The Shack

A novel by Canadian author William P. Young published in 2007. The main character is Mackenzie Allen Phillips, called “Mack” by his family and friends, and a father of five. Mack takes three of his children on a camping trip and suffers an unspeakable tragedy when his daughter is abducted and found murdered.  The story addresses Mack’s tortuous journey through the pain of his daughter’s death and then spiritual journey afterward when he receives a note in his mailbox requesting he return to the shack in the woods where daughter Missy had been taken.
